So why are many of them CHARGING for entrance if its so quiet??
No I don't mean quiet just not as busy as it used to be, I mean everyone used to go out NYE didn't they. Or is it just me?
The pubs just kept on charging after the Millenium.

The Millenium NYE was the worst NY ever.
I fell for the big con,  I bought tickets for several pubs and clubs in advance.... and every one of them was totally dead.
In one pub was my wife's ex, (who wanted to cause trouble) so we left......
In the next pub was an ex of mine....(who always wanted to cause trouble) , so we left.

We saw the New Year in at the quietest pub, in the quietest part, of the quietest city in the world I reckon.

Thats what I mean the traditional pub crawl was out of the question and still is today.
Bottle of champers in the fridge for when we get in from wk and I'm a happy bunny especially as Gez doesn't like it very much.  ZXZ

A friend posted this link to the fireworks display in London last night. I took a look, just expecting the usual stuff but....wow...what a display, superb and a real credit to London:

It was the best of the cities whose displays TV showed last night, anyway.  They didn't show Paris or Rome, however.

Excellent Dave. I hope the extra 4p a litre I have to pay for my diesel will be used for next year's display!

I looked at the new electric Nissan Leaf, but it costs about £24,000 (including the government grant of £5,000) and only has a range of about 100 miles, may be less on the hilly roads here and what happens when the batteries need replacing and what is depreciation like on it?  Better to wait for the hydrogen fuel cell car (who knows what that will cost though!)

Dave, I can't even get the battery in my phone to last for a whole shift, I think the car is a few years away yet!
