Thanks for keeping us up to date with the weather around here Steve, some places have been very badly hit and that photo of Llanrwst was really upsetting to see.   I really feel sorry for all those affected there and hope that it's not lack of maintenance on that stream that ran through the Glan Yr Afon estate.  There is no excuse for that as the authorities have had enough warning

According to the RNLI, lifeboat crews from Llandudno and Moelfre are braving the horrendous conditions on separate shouts at the moment.
No details on the nature of those shouts just yet.

An iconic bridge and a landmark cafe become a colourful beacon of hope in honour of NHS heroes and key workers last night.

The sixth consecutive week of the national Clap for Carers tribute saw Pont Fawr and the Tu Hwnt i'r Bont cafe in Llanrwst lit up in rainbow colours in a spectacular display of appreciation.

Technicians from North Wales Sound & Lighting spent hours preparing the colourful light show which took centre stage in the town's appreciation for workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic last night.

Police officers switched on their flashing blue lights to add to the spectacle and one vehicle was parked on the bridge.

FIONA Bruce and the Antiques Roadshow team have been filming at Bodnant Garden, valuing family heirlooms and missing masterpieces.

The show, which has been running for more than four decades, was filmed on Wednesday, September 2 and Thursday, September 3 on a closed set with a small invited audience only, to ensure the safety of guests, production and the wider public.

Two programmes have been filmed at Bodnant Garden, which will be broadcast early next year.

Presenter Fiona Bruce, who is filming her 13th series of Antiques Roadshow, said: "Normally we welcome around 5,000 people to each Antiques Roadshow, but of course in these extraordinary times we will have to do things very differently.

A NORTH Wales National Trust site is to make its big screen debut in a forthcoming movie.

Bodnant Garden was a key filming location for The Secret Garden, a Sky Original released in cinemas and on Sky Cinema on October 23, starring Julie Walters and Colin Firth.

This October half-term, visitors to the National Trust garden near Conwy can explore the magical locations, which drew film-makers to North Wales and enjoy a host of wildlife-themed family activities which recreate the magic and capture the imaginations of children and adults alike.

Although local lockdown restrictions in Conwy mean that the garden is open for local residents only, families can still enjoy all things autumnal through the new Secret Garden Scavengers Hunt.

Farmers faced with a three-year wait to fix breached river defences organised it themselves for a tenth of what it would have cost an environment watchdog.

The Tan Lan embankment, designed to repel flood waters from the River Conwy, was breached during Storm Ciara in February this year.

It was protecting adjoining agricultural land, six homes, businesses including one with 49 caravans and the main A470 trunk road through the Conwy Valley between Llanrwst and Trefriw.

When it emerged it could take Natural Resources Wales (NRW) three years and £150,000 to fix it, local farmers took it into their own hands and got the bank restored themselves – at a cost of £15,000.

LLANRWST Library is set to move location and become a 'rural community hub' that could include a social space and virtual access to health care.

Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC) said the existing library on Heol Yr Orsaf Station Road is too small to meet popular demand, as well as being dated and requiring investment.

It has proposed a move to the ground floor of Glasdir Business and Conference Centre and former exhibition hall, which closed last year, with the provision of additional facilities.

Update,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Councillors have been told they can’t challenge a local authority decision to move a town’s library around 50 metres at a cost of £374,000.

On Tuesday Conwy county council’s cabinet unanimously approved moving Llanrwst’s library from it’s current site at the old court building to the vacant former business centre at Glasdir in the town.
