Just been having a 'peruse' of Dave's photos on his Flickr site.

I am getting a bit worried about you Dave. You seem to be spending a lot of time with those angels in St Tudno's!!

Lovely pictures though.   $thanx$
Very kind of you to say so, Stan. The angels are very photogenic, it has to be said!

I'm in "The Arms" tonight and almost crying into my drink. Aaaah!

Earlier today we returned from the weekly shop at Tesco in the Junction. When I opened the car door, one of the bags toppled over and out slid the newly purchased bottle of brandy (nothing else), and smashed on the driveway.

£18.54 down the drain or rather all over the concrete - and whilst I stood there looking at what had happened, our border collie Ted was lapping it up quite happily!!

A case of Murphy's Law I suppose - why oh why didn't one of the other items slide out? I suppose I will eventually get over it but it could take quite a while.   ))*  :( :( :(

You've probably met my little sister Llinos if you mean the Kings Arms.  At least your pooch was happy.  He'll have a hangover  no doubt.   ;D

Stan, £18.54 worth of brandy means you have actually spilled about £15.00 of taxation.

Come to think of it, thats no consolation at all is it?  Z**

In the '50s the pharmacists used to sell glass rechargeable syphons for 1/-, with a 2 bob deposit.  We had one at Christmas.

Odd thing to have in your stocking Ian.  :-X

Tobacco displays in shops will be banned in England as part of a package of measures to discourage smoking.

Instead, cigarettes and other products will have to be kept under-the-counter from 2012 for large stores and 2015 for small shops, ministers have announced.

A consultation will also be launched on whether manufacturers should be forced to put cigarettes into plain packets.

A fifth of adults smoke - a figure which has remained steady in recent years after decades of rapid falls.

Is this going a step too far, will it make any difference, will 'under the counter' stuff be more appealing to youngsters, how long before any smoking in public is illegal?
Has anybody got any strong views on this?

I'm a non smoker, I remember trying it at 15 and it made me dizzy and I regarded it as a total waste of money.  However i'm very grateful to smokers for the tax they pay. Do governments really want all smokers to quit? if they live longer that's more pensions to pay and what will they tax to replace smoking?
