David Banister
« on: July 31, 2012, 05:17:02 pm »
David died last evening.

He was formerly the manager of the Woolwich Building Society when it was in Lloyd Street, and subsequently a greeter at the old Asda and then for some time at  the new one.

Condolences and sympathy to his wife.

Very sad news indeed.

He was a passenger in a very minor RTA yesterday evening and an ambulance was called as a precaution. After spending about 30 minutes being checked over he was assisted accross the road, to his home, with a huge grin on his face laughing and joking with the Paramedic.

A truly lovely man who I'm sure will be missed by many.

Paddy. The official time of death I understand, was 9.20pm.

He was an old County Club member and served as a director for a period before the Club's final demise.

You couldn't wish to meet a nicer guy than David.  He always had a massive smile and always had a good story to tell!!! A real character.

Yes he did. One of the houses on the right as you take the left hand bend at the school.

The memorial service was attended by quite a good number of family and friends. The emphasis was on celebrating David's life and there was therefore quite a lot of laughter as those who knew him would expect.

His former "Greeter" at Asda,  Ken, made a very entertaining tribute about their time together.

"Rest in peace", David.

After having had the pleasure of knowing David for over 30 years, Stan, it was interesting to hear about David’s life before he actually came to Llandudno.

RIP, David.

I was also at David's Memorial service yesterday and I agree, Bri, it was a fitting tribute to David's memory, in particular the Beatles song "With a little help from my friends" which was performed by the younger members of his family under the musical direction of his step-son and was the final item of the service.
I too knew him socially and also worked with at the "front end" of ASDA Llandudno for 11 years both in the old and new stores. He was great fun to work alongside and always sociable and entertaining. He was able to take the inevitable banter and also give it as well when required!
             Again R.I.P. David.
