I used to go to a Chinese Restaurant, as big if not bigger than The Washington building.

It had a stage for entertaining, (usually Karaoke).... and it was very busy for many years.
Never was it possible to get a table on a weekend.

Then.... after about 12 years... it inexplicably closed down.
I suspected Triads!

Or the Border Agency!

I don't think that the agency can catch a cold let alone an illegal immigrant.  No wonder they were broken up as a unit as they were completely ineffective

Whilst in Conwy this lunchtime, we found ourselves looking for somewhere to have a bite of lunch. After ruling out the usual options, we decided to try Amelies, which is on the first floor above the former Palace Bingo/Cinema.

It's very pleasantly decorated in a French style and offers a good lunchtime menu, with prices ranging from a fiver to just under £10. I had the steak burger with side salad and a few chips (£8.95) and it was really superb, very tasty indeed.

Do give it a try if you're in Conwy.  $good$

There are a lot more of them about and they don't all live in China.

The Boss and I went out for a run in the car today and finished up in Pentrefoelas at The Chocolate Shop Cafe.  This is just South of the A5 where the B5113 crosses it.   Apart from the excellent cappuccino they have a fantastic assortment of hand made chocolates and the chocolate drink is made from real chocolate and not the powdered rubbish.

Well worth a visit if you're in the area! :D

The new Chinese Restaurant in the old Fortes factory in Craig Y Don is to be called 'Tops Chinese Restaurant' and is being opened by Mr Pui Lee Lau.

Scaffolding is going up outside the Wash so that is a good sign.

Haven't been to the Albert recently but can recommend the Cottage Loaf, food is excellent and similarly priced to The Albert.  More 'intimate' too since the makeover!

I see the Carlton are intent on repeating their faux pas of last year:

Shouldn't that sign be bilingual?
