In a nutshell, you CANNOT eat better than this for that price.   $dins$ $dins$ $dins$

Probably why it's so cheap.

You can't fit much food in a nutshell.

The Groes Inn has a great reputation, but is very over-rated.

I was eager to try it (because of the aura that surronds it) .... but it was very basic, and over priced Pub Fodder.

Gammon Steak,  Steak and Ale Pie,  Lasagne etc....

There was fog surrounding it last time I was there.

The Nineteen cafe in Lloyd Street is currently closed whilst new owners refurbish it.

That's two properties in the same area, as they have the chemists on Hooson's Corner which is in a terrible state of repair now. Goodness only knows what it will be like outside when it closes next month.

Alexandra Pub shut down!

LICENSING officials meet next week to discuss the future of a hotel after a weekend of disorder. There were several incidents inside and outside The Alexandra Hotel in Clonmel Street, Llandudno on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26 this year.

Within days, North Wales Police secured an order to close the premises pending a fast track review of its licence on Wednesday, March 23 at 9.30am.

Conwy County Borough Council’s licensing sub committee will meet at Llandudno Town Hall to consider a police request for an “expedited” or (speeded up) review of the premises. One person was arrested for affray and drug related offences on February 26. The following day seven more people were arrested with more arrests planned. Police acted to uphold conditions of the licence including to prevent crime and disorder.

At the Alexandra Hotel, a Conwy County Borough Council sign was put up stating: “In the opinion of a senior police officer the premises are associated with serious crime and serious disorder.” Inspector Ian Verburg, of North Wales Police, said yesterday: “We acted very swiftly to uphold the licensing objectives to prevent crime and disorder.”

The holder of the premises licence, Oxford Hotels & Inns Management Ltd, of City Road, London, said: “We never comment on things like this.”

From what I've been told.  Two women from Anglesey took it over.  They had a party and it was their guests who kicked off not locals.  One party goer having been slashed across the neck with a broken glass (not sure if that's just hear say mind)I wonder if they'll get their deposit back?  Under those circumstances I'm not sure.
The Pub-co is also to blame here .  The pub is dark and dingey inside, refurbishment is down to the Pub-co..  The Alex has a lot of rooms but due to fire regs they can't let them as the fire escape needs replacing, again down to the Pub-co.  The kitchen does not meet health and hygiene standard either.  So basically it's dead in the water.
Can you imagine what the business rates etc are on a building that size in that location!
