Hollins, your photos make everything look delicious but what is that in the photo as I can't quite make it out?

I did think that it could be a Baked Alaska but it's many years since I've seen or even eaten one

A proper Baked Alaska has to be one of those frozen Swiss Roll with ice cream in the middle covered in meringue.  Can you still buy them?

Yes, Baked Alaska.
We were talking about that version yesterday Dave. I think it was called Arctic Roll. Not sure if you can still buy it.

When ice cream was sold in blocks I made many a baked Alaska by putting one on top of a slab of sponge cake, sometimes dribbled with sherry and coating it carefully in whipped egg white and sugar mix. Very hot oven till brown. Always went down well at dinner parties ! $bounce$

I hope they are as successful as the "Grape to Glass"  https://thegrapetoglass.co.uk/  an excellent establishment.

Rhos-on-Sea craft beer bar with Sherlock inspired name set to open

When Tim Watson met his namesake they came up with the ‘Elementary’ idea to open up a new craft beer bar in a village determined to promote independents.

Wine expert and beer enthusiast Tim Watson opened Grape To Glass in Rhos-on-Sea three years ago and it has become a major success, both as a retail store and hub of the community.

He had always been keen to create a bigger space for socialising and also had a passion for craft beer.
This saw him get into a conversation with another Tim Watson, who sold up Kinmel Arms, in St George, last year and after travelling was keen for a new challenge.    cont   https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/rhos-sea-craft-beer-bar-17283528

We went to Llanberis yesterday to see an old friend at his cafe there and it was great catching up with him over a cup of coffee and a tea as well as a delicious piece of Bara Brith
It's not a traditional cafe by any means but if anyone is in the area then you'll get a warm welcome from Steffan as well as a warm glow from the coal fire that always seems to be on there

Tal-y-Cafn pub in the Conwy Valley is set to close again - and could remain shut unless action is taken on business rates.

The pub reopened over the summer when the owner of The Toad pub in Rhos-on-Sea Peter Hammond signed a lease to take on the site.
But Mr Hammond told North Wales Live the pub would close on December 1 due to personal reasons.

The owner of the site Bill Edwards - who has invested more than £1m into the property in recent years - says there were three parties interested in taking on the lease.

However he warned that they were "hesitant" because of the high level of rates on the building, which has a rateable value of £75,500 with the Valuation Office Agency(VOA). Using the multiplier it leaves a rates bill of around £3,000 a month.....

Yet another Restaurant/Cafe about to appear in 50 Mostyn Street which has just been granted change of use from a retail shop, it will include an outside seating area.

50 Mostyn st another restaraunt/ cafe, but they are all the same somebody should open something different and inviting, if it's true that the old hmv shop ( out door clothing) now would make a great food bar/ music venue even have an upstairs.

No chance Norman as the clothing chain signed a 10 year lease on the shop which is why the landlord didn't renew HMV's lease.
