Poco Coffee appears to have gone bust despite a recent merger with the Coal Shack.

The old Poco site..........Hopefully the new owners will have better success with " The Loaf Coffee & Sandwich Bar" ,  they are already in Colwyn Bay and making a good impression according to reports .

Interesting article on Dylan's    talking about the challenges faced with the Llandudno restaurant, recruitment and the hike in business rates.
And the recruitment solution idea "They are also looking to a new potential source of talent, HMP Berwyn in Wrexham.
He said that the prison should be seen as a resource with a potential workforce there that could help address the recruitment problem.

"Unlike Menai Bridge and Criccieth it did not enjoy instant success but David said that they are now establishing themselves in the town.
He said: "Llandudno has been a challenge but it is contributing now and we have a good young kitchen team in place there.
"It had been a slow burner compared to other sites.
We were also hit with a 500% increase in rates which doesn't help."

That has to be a misprint.

The sea was pretty rough today by the Beach Cafe in Penrhyn Bay.       No wonder there was no one eating outside today!       ;D

I assume a VOA revaluation of the premises rateable value occurred.

On Monday when we went out for lunch, a friend of my wife's had been to Fryday's  Fish and Chip shop in Penrhyn Bay and highly recommended it for the Senior Citizens special, so today we decided to give it a try.
We drove there and parked at the back of the cafe and went inside for the meal and found it was just as nice as we had been told it was.   It was a delicious meal finished off with a good choice of various Parisells'a ice creams and the lady who served the meal was extremely pleasant and friendly so it was a very enjoyable experience.
The cafe is closed over Christmas but opens again on the 7th January 2019 but we'll be back there again soon after it reopens

SENIOR CITIZEN SPECIALS
MONDAY-FRIDAY ONLY
(excluding bank holidays)
Fish, Chips and peas served with Homemade
Tartare Sauce & Lemon Wedge & bread & butter
PLUS a pot of tea for one
or coffee
and a Parisella's ice cream     £7.20

I have just had a look at the application Norman and if you want to see it, go on to Conwy County Borough Council Planning Site & it's Reference No 0/45869. They have photomontages of what it will look like and I think it looks very good indeed. They are doubling the size with an extension in the car park at the back & it's for 20 apartments. The applicant are PJ, NN & AM Jones & the owner of the site is Mr P Lloyd.

The Pioneer's article on the Nevill...........

The Nevill, located across the road from the Llandudno train station, which currently consists of a ground floor pub, owner accommodation above and a car park to the side is set to be redeveloped into 20 "high quality" residential apartments.

Landlord Peter Jones has run The Nevill for more than 33 years but has decided to retire and following no interest in anyone wanting to take on the business he decided for the redevelopment option.

Matthew Jones Architects have now taken on the project for the new redevelopment and plans have been submitted to the council with a decision expected early this year.

Matthew Jones, director of Matthew Jones Architects in Deganwy, said: "We are really pleased to help with this exciting project.

"The building is ideally located in the centre of town, right opposite the train station, and whilst the loss of the pub is regrettable, this residential conversion will give the building and locality a new lease of life.

"Whilst preserving the traditional Victorian Architecture, we have designed a new modern ‘extension’ that respects the traditional building and conservation area."
