Went to the Bodnant Welsh Food Centre for the first time today. We didn't try the tea room or restaurant but had a look around the shop. We thought they were trying to do a similar thing to the Chatsworth Farm Shop in Derbyshire which is excellent.
We were amazed how much car parking there was. Presumably it does get busy in the summer but today it was deserted.
The buildings look as if they have been expensively renovated.

The shop is pretty expensive, but it's all great quality. The car park was full and the whole place was very busy when we visited back in August.

We called in last week, enjoyed the honey shop and the info given on all the honey and the cameras were on the bees and hives behind the centre . I bought a jar 4.95 then we went to the deli counter and i bought slice of pork apple and walnut pie 3.75 it was delicious . All expensive but nice for a treat. We left the cafe alone this time around. The chocolates and Xmas gift stuff looked good. Tried some cheeses and were actually shown the herd from which the cheese came from, across the river. I appreciated the fact that the cows were not just crammed in small barns. If you go around past the winery you can peer through the window and watch the cheese being made in the dairy, although hygiene rules that you cant enter of course.
Im afraid i couldnt afford my weekly shop there but good for treats!

Don't buy the Great Orme beer from the Bodnant Food shop.

They sell it in Morrisons and it's cheaper there  Z**.

Sadly, the BlockBuster video shop in Colwyn Bay will be closing down.

It is one of four in Wales which will close, due to the administrators being unable to find a buyer for the company.
Sad news for the employees and families in the run up to Christmas.  :(

Just been talking to my nephew just minutes ago, hes has worked for 6 years there as an evening job ,luckily for him he has a good day job in Bangor. Says he is gonna miss the extra. But very sad for those who rely purely on that income. Plus was a great local place for folk to get films that didnt cost the earth. Most people can afford  a dvd player not everyone can have internet to download stuff.

We mostly find DVDs at car boot sales or ebay, we haven't rented one for many years, probably others have done the same?

I think most people now either download films to watch or watch them via PPV on Sky.

I remember the days of racing over to North Wales Video when they had the shop in Vaughan St to rent the latest release on video.
