I'm sure there's something in the Ivor Wynne Jones book about it being a dance hall at some time?

American Disaster is certainly living up to its name - they will have missed peak season completely.  &shake& Still no sign of any Planning Application, so I guess that story was a red herring?

Sadly, there's been one or two red herrings and/or exagerations of the facts on the forum just lately, DaveR.

On your other point, you are correct.

“The Electricity Board Showroom was built after World War One as a ballroom. Later it became a roller skating rink and then a garage.”

I'm confused as to why the deputy head of local Borough Council would feed me a red herring?

People have their own agendas, mate.

Fact is, there's no Planning Application on the CCBC website and I haven't seen a little yellow notice outside the Restaurant. Now, it might be that the Application hasn't been made yet. But, as was discussed before, the rationale for an Application needing to be made doesn't make a lot of sense, and even if one was needed, there is no way on earth it could be refused, due to the site's long previous history as a restaurant. So no reason not to get the place up and running.

EDIT: Thinking about it a bit more, are you sure you don't mean a Licence application to sell alcohol?

I was only repeating what I was told, you may be right, maybe my source was incorrect?

I see Merrymoon is moving from next to the Bengal Dynasty to the corner of Ty Gwyn Road and Church Walks.

Indeed, that will be a radical down-sizing or them, as the footfall in that area is very low indeed for retail.

I heard it said that it was because they do so much of their trade via the website these days.
I am sceptical about that, as their website is certainly not one of the best I have seen.

They are in a rather specialised market with Warlocks and Wikkies and all that stuff!   WWW.  WWW

I went to pick my mum up from Cheshire today and on the way back we called in at the new M&S Cheshire Oaks.
Not too busy at 11am but was getting a bit more so as we left. I don't think the food hall is as big as Handforth Dean but the store itself is massive and on two floors as is the parking.
The roof is a most impressive construction especially when viewed from the upper sales floor.

Any word on what's happening with the old MerryMoon shop - great location that one for the right business.
