Here is a hazy picture of the little shop in Upper Mostyn St which has been a Barbers (twice) an ice cream outlet, a greengrocers, and before that a junk/curios shop.

Now it is full of 'end of line' stock, curtains, blinds etc.

Its such a shame because it could be a very nice little specialist shop, in what should be a pleasant cafe / retail area.

It's just another hard working Lady trying to sell whatever she can to make an honest living in this upside down world. She thinks it's better to work at whatever it takes rather than live off benifits. How many nice little specialist shops do you know Fester that have gone bust?, to many to count me thinks  ££$

BlongB, long time no see!

Actually, when it was a greengrocers is looked the part, I bought things there, and yes long hours were obviously been worked, (as many of us do)

As a barbers it looked the part too..... but most of the time it was closed for business.

As a tea rooms (whistle stop) it really started to look the part..... but NEVER actually opened.

Now, as a clearance outlet it looks very poor indeed.

As far as I remember the tea room never took off because of red tape with the council.

I see that M&S have started their revamp in Llandudno. What a mess with the front mostly boarded up.
I asked the assistant how long it would take and she said, "Until Christmas."
If like me you could do with avoiding this, the M&S Cheshire Oaks is opening on 29 August at 10am.

Strikes me it is a silly time to attempt such a thing. Would have been better in Jan or Feb !

I feel so sorry for the assistants, only 3 tills working today. She said last Friday was like Christmas and that was with 4 tills working.

Julian Graves is now closed and empty, the number of empty units int he Victoria Centre must be really worrying the management.

I don;t suppose they can drop the rent as excisting buisnesses would expect a rebate of some kind, rather a bad situation.

Julian Graves is now closed and empty, the number of empty units int he Victoria Centre must be really worrying the management.

It is 3 years now since I met with Sue Nash, (Victoria Centre Manager) ... with regard to taking on a unit in her shopping centre.

At that time, she was thinking of innovative ways of keeping the centre looking busy, and filling the units.

She is a fantastic manager, with high energy and good ideas, but even she cannot fight the fact that rents are too high, and disposable income for us mere mortals is falling all the time.  (wages or pensions)

I mentioned that inflation was getting a bit much, and that the pocket was getting squeezed a year or so ago on this very Forum... I was ignored then, (shouted down by some) but I wonder how many might now be coming round to my way of thinking?
