So do you think Tesco pulled out of the old Woolworth site as they plan an Express store in the old Clarence site instead? That would be a nasty surprise for Sainsburys and they'd only be a couple of hundred yards apart.

;) The Iceland unit seems a bit too big for a Frankie and Bennys and im sure much too small for Primark.  ££$

Thats why I said the superbowl aswell, as in they are knocking through and making it into one!

I wonder if the ten pin bowling alleys will remain?

I doubt Sainsburys would be worried, they will have the space in Woolies to have a far wider range of merchandise and they also have a better reputation for quality. There's also the novelty factor, of course, being as the nearest Sainsburys is currently over in Rhyl.

I dont think Tesco were ever seriously interested in Woolies; as I understand it, Poundstretcher were gazumped by Sainsburys there. Tesco were never involved. They have a history of participating in Travelodge developments, so it doesn't come as a great surprise.

Inside the old Woolies, as it is gutted prior to conversion to the Sainsburys Local format:

Burtons have started their Closing Down Sale. Caffe Nero will be taking over the premises in a week or so.

This closure will probably only leave M&S, Greenwoods and WH Smiths in (and just off) Mostyn Street as shops left from my childhood during the fifties.

I wonder have I missed one?   ?{}?

The Theshers Store, (which became 'The Local') was again lit up all day today, and activity was going on inside.

I don't know what is happening, but the potential is that something is getting ready to start trading.
