New ZipYard clothing alterations shop in Madoc Street, Llandudno. Didn't this used to be called Diana's Emporium or similar?

Wasn't it a furniture shop until recently?

Yes, it was a while back but I think it was also a furniture shop of late but it did not stay open for long.

Unless I am mistaken that shop was also well known as 'Davies the Jew' during the 60's and 70's run by Mr Davies and his sister.

Weren't they in the process of applying to stay open until midnight, seven days a week?

I double-checked when passing earlier and Sainsbury's have definitely applied to stay open until midnight, seven days a week.

There was also a closing date of two weeks ago so I assume it will not be long before a decision will be made.

I would have thought it was normal practice to apply for the longest possible opening hours even though they will probably not actually stay open until midnight on a normal basis but it means they don't have to apply for an extension for special occasions (Extravaganza etc...) where they may choose to use the late opening should the occasion arise.

Quite correct, the licence application should not be taken as an indication of normal opening hours.

Don't know if this has been brought up but I heard a rumour that Primark is going into where Iceland and Superbowl are!

A MAJOR supermarket has confirmed it will be moving into an empty Llandudno shop.

The former Alworths store on Mostyn Street will become a Sainsbury's Local, creating up to 25 new jobs.

A spokesman for the supermarket said the town centre site, which they hoped to have open next year, will have a sales area of nearly 3,000 square feet, and stock a range of 'every-day products' between 7am-11pm.

So will it be open until 11pm, seven days a week or just midweek?
