Retailers shut 2,700 shops in first half of the year

About 14 shops are closing every day as UK High Streets face their toughest trading climate in five years, a report has found.

A net 1,123 stores disappeared from Britain's top 500 high streets in the first six months of the year, according to the accountancy firm PwC.
It said fashion and electrical stores had suffered most as customers did more shopping online.

Restaurants and pubs also floundered as fewer people go out to eat or drink.

"Store closures in the second half of the year due to administrations and company voluntary arrangements [a form of insolvency] already announced will further intensify the situation."      Continued.......https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-46142025

Britain's worst and best online retailers named by Which?

Homebase runs Britain's worst online shop, according to a survey by consumer group Which?
The DIY chain's website was hard to navigate, offered poor value for money and was often not up to date on stock details, the survey found.

SportsDirect.com, DorothyPerkins.com, and the rival DIY website from B&Q also came bottom of the heap in the survey.
The most highly-rated shops were specialist retailers, led by LizEarle.com and RicherSounds.com.

Which? said the popularity of smaller retailers' sites underlined the importance of offering a personal, convenient service that gave "shoppers exactly what they want".
The group asked more than 10,000 Which? members to rate the most popular online shops based on experiences they had in the previous six months.

One store I hope fails is the Vape Store, I received my 20% off brochure delivered by the postman today.
There is no doubt in my mind that the products they are advertising are not intended as an aid to wean you off tobacco but rather an enticement to new users. Judging by the packaging I would suggest they are looking at a teenage market too despite the fact they are supposedly only sold to the over 18's.
No doubt the government of the day will be all in favour as it's another income to compensate for falling cigarette sales.

I see that the old post office is being advertized as a restaurant/bar,i do hope somebody takes it on,what a stunning venue it could make if only we could find a local investor prepared to invest here, besides LC of course.

Magic is beginning to spread across the muggle town of Llandudno.

Potter mania has taken hold of the area and has resulted in popular business the Wizarding Boutique move to a new location within the town of Llandudno to allow for an expansion of the store.

The store has moved from the Llandudno Pier to it's new bigger location on 7 Clonmel Street.

The new premises has allowed owner Debbie Corkish to expand the stock she has in the store and include more of an experience for visitors.  ref Pioneer    cont. https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/17235985.wizarding-boutique-apparates-to-new-site-in-llandudno/
