Shock as Marks & Spencer to quit Llandudno town centre
The store, one of the High Street giant's oldest in the UK, is to move out of its iconic town centre building in favour of a retail park.
Marks & Spencer’s Llandudno store is to close.
If the move goes ahead it will be viewed as a huge blow to the town centre, which has struggled in recent years.
At present M&S has two stores in Llandudno on Mostyn Street. Its satellite store which houses childrenswear and menswear will close in February, and will be consolidated into the bigger store.
A spokesman for M&S says there will be no job losses as part of the move.
The spokeswoman told the Daily Post: “The satellite store will close in February, and everything will be consolidated into the bigger store.
“A planning application will be submitted at the beginning of the new year for the bigger store to move onto Parc Llandudno, where we don’t have a presence.
There will be no job losses as a result of the moves.”
It is not yet clear where the new store will be located in Parc Llandudno. Ref DP
