I was just thinking the same Wrex,  the recession being over is a Govt fuelled FALLACY.   Complete lies.

Every time a Govt gets past the half way point in its term of office.... they have to pretend that things are on the mend or they will not be voted back in at the next election!

The Pier shops are a perfect microcosm, a barometer if you like, of the current 'upturn'

Four of the 20 units have been vacated, as they could not make a living, (even in a decent weather year)
Two of them are re-opening with ideas that can only be described as 'hopeful',  the others are being advertised for rent.

In Mostyn Street and Upper Mostyb Street I see no real signs of improvement.... quite the opposite in fact.

Indeed. Wonder why so many don't understand that?

There was a delivery of building materials being taken into the former Escape sports shop in Upper Mostyn Street this morning.

Owned by a really nice young couple, (probably no more than mid 20's) whom I met on the pier last year.

They are putting a lot into this, first time in business, and I wish them every success.

I also gave them a card for this Forum, as I told them there is a wealth of information and advice here.  ££$

Sad to see yesterday that the Pottery Shop in Betws is finishing. Also that Y Bedol in Tal-y Bont is for sale.

The National Trust Wales Regional office in Trinity Square is available for letting or purchase - "due to relocation". The NT is one of the few - if only - Wales body to have  an HQ outside the Cardiff area (Remember the FAW being moved from Wrexham to Cardiff a few years ago ?).  The NT website makes no mention of this move - anyone know what's going on ?

Apparently, the NT will be relocating from Llandudno to Penrhyn Castle and the Ysbyty Estate near Betws-y-Coed.

Sounds like downsizing, if you ask me.

sounds like common sense to me, why have a separate office when there are so many huge buildings with empty rooms available!

Nemesis, a pub for sale is not news.  What is news is a pub that still appears to be trading.

As Penrhyn Castle is an NT property, it will be cheaper renting from themselves!  Save my Annual Membership increasing!    :D
