Why would someone purchase a HMV gift card other from than a HMV store?

Shoppers who bought HMV gift cards from Asda, Boots and Tesco can exchange them at face value for the retailers' own gift cards.

Supermarket giants Asda and Tesco say if you bought an HMV gift card from one of their stores and have proof of purchase, such as a receipt, you can exchange it for one of their own.

High street retailer Boots will also exchange an HMV gift card bought from one of its stores, for one of its own.

A lot of convenience stores sell gift cards for a range of retailers. Saves having to go into the actual retailer, I suppose.

Thanks, DaveR.

Not being a great lover of gift cards since I got stung by Ticketmaster I did not know that.

I suppose these third party stores must receive a small commission for making the sales and with it may come an automatic legal liability for any losses if the other store goes into administration.

It now seems the Administrators will be allowing gift cards to be used at all HMV stores from tomorrow as well.

Did I notice an empty shop next to David Roberts Shoes in Gloddaeth Street being internally decorated when I passed lunchtime?

Yes, the old Thresher off licence. They've been working on it for a week or two now.

"There are reports that Hilco is considering opening Jessops concessions in HMV stores."
That sounds like a real winner. Take one broken retail concept and insert it into another broken retail concept.  &shake&

It has now opened as a second hand shop.

The old Blacks shop in Betws  was asking 55,000 pa lease, but has now dropped the asking price to 45000.  Maybe this is a sign that landlords are starting to become more realistic?  I believe they have to pay rates on empty shops they own?

Is that the large shop opposite Pont Y Pair bridge?

Landlords of commercial property are responsible for paying Business Rates on empty properties. In some extreme cases, they will demolish a factory they own, rather than pay the rates.

No - same side but slightly higher up, just past the Art shop.
