I don't often shop in M&S, but have you thought about the volume of elderly people who shop there who aren't computer savvy? :-\

I don't think Amazon think too deeply about those who are not computer savvy that's for sure. Slowly but surely we will all have to change our ways, I guess it's how to tackle the change that poses the problem from all sides.

The interior of the old Greenwoods shop has been stripped out, who is moving in there?

At the start of the '90s St John's church did very well out of selling their old schoolroom to M & S, when the latter was still enjoying its expansionist phase.  Now, with both M & S stores becoming vacant, wonder if anyone connected to the church would buy them back?  They could lease out the lower floors to smaller. niche shops and turn the upper floors into Church-based activity centres.

The closed M&S store is on the market for £2.1m - not sure if the Church has that much in the collection plate!

You mean the almighty won't provide? Actually, there's at least one member of the St John congregation who has that sort of money.

Who is going next to Peococks,we are very lucky to have one shop let at the moment. We know most shops are owned by pension funds and for some reason bringing the rent down is not on the agenda then of course there is the welsh goverment buissness rates, something has to give before Travelodge turn their units into bedrooms.

Looks like the ice cream parlour under Travelodge were moving out this morning - unless they are having a refit.

The notice on the door which has been there since before Christmas , said that they were having the boiler repaired. I think not, or I wouldn't want their plumber !

THE threat hanging over the future Llandudno’s HMV store’s nine employees has been lifted.

The Mostyn Street store is not listed for closure following the sale of the business to Sunrise Records and Entertainment, of Canada, whose owner is Doug Putman.

Sunrise Records will acquire 100 stores across the UK, and 1,487 employees will transfer as part of the transaction.

The stores will continue to trade as HMV, with four stores continuing to trade as Fopp. The chain went in administration last year and KPMG’s Restructuring practice was appointed joint administrators on 28 December. Unfortunately, 27 stores have not been acquired, and will be closed with immediate effect, resulting in 455 redundancies.

“We know the physical media business is here to stay and we greatly appreciate all the support from the suppliers, landlords, employees and most importantly our customers.”    ref Pioneer

Speaking of HMV, their flagship Oxford Street store is to close as part of the deal. I was amazed to learn that the rent on that shop is over £3m a year and the rates over £1m! Crazy!
