Nemesis, a pub for sale is not news.  What is news is a pub that still appears to be trading.

Sorry Mike-- 'twas still open though.

Two things :-

I was told yesterday that the old Jessops is to be a Pound shop. Anyone else heard this? Or is someone spreading fairy tales?

Can anyone tell me what the Hope House Shop (which is between the Shoe Shop and the Betting Shop opposite the Town Hall) was before Hope House took it over? There was quite a debate in there yesterday and no-one could remember.

From memory, there used to be a television retail sales shop, Weatherwear and also Nadins in the past between the Dry Cleaners and the Betting Shop.

Sorry but I cannot remember which shop was where exactly.

The Hope House shop was Clark's shoes.  It moved next door when the British Gas shop was sold and the shop was done up.

Did they not also have  retail showroom in Lloyd Street.  I remember buying an electric fire from them.  I think people also went there to pay bills etc.  That was in 1987 when we moved to the town, so it was a while ago!

Manweb also briefly had a shop in Mostyn Street in the retail development where Victoria Centre is now. From memory it was next door to Curry's.  The Lloyd Street area also had a Singer Sewing machine shop - it was always a joke that the manager of Gas went to be the manager of Singer next door!

Manweb did move from Mostyn Broadway to next door to Llandudno Library in the old Telefusion shop.

That must have been well over over 20 years ago because Bootes on Broadway were in that building on Mostyn Broadway when we had the floods in 1993.

That is what was suggested yesterday, so confirms it. Thanks. The back of the shop still belongs to the shoe shop next door, I believe it is L shaped and the childrens dept is behind our back wall ! Hence why we swelter in summer !
