Double-headed "Black 5" locomotives passing through Conwy, summer 1960.

It's remarkabe how "Long Shanks"  $uk anticipated the building of the railway, by adding that arch to the castle walls, some 600 years before the actual tracks were laid. Now that's what I call a visionary!  ;D

Trojan,
Longshanks  $uk was even cleverer than that!  (Or maybe it was the Savoyard castle builder)

He even anticipated the advent of hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream, by building a fantastic little upstairs cafe adjacent to the castle gates!

Yummmmm.

"Longshanks"  $uk would have a fit if he saw those PVC windowframes.

It's an excellent website. A couple more old photos:

Conwy in 1795 (what is that large building behind the town to the right?)

Castle Cottage Conwy in 1885 (is this the one that was demolished when they built the new entrance to the castle a few years ago?

Would that large building be the Council Offices at Bodlondeb?
