I pulled into Conwy about 6:30pm last night after driving from Manchester. The traffic just stopped about the time I reached the town square. Nothing moving as far as the Morfa. Everything was slipping and sliding and the side roads were impassable. In fact. a recovery vehicle carrying  van got stuck in the archway on Uppergate St where it stayed all night. The police were just directing people to pull off the road as much as possible and leave their cars as nothing was happening for hours. I parked up along Lancaster square and left the car there all night. Finally just moved it. So yeah a lot of abandoned cars but the police seemed to encouraging people to just park anywhere and seek shelter rather than sit out for hours waiting for gritters that may be hours and hours away.

Here's a photo of the recovery vehicle stuck in the Uppergate archway.

It's been a  mad night in Conwy, a bus was trying to turn into the bottom arch on berry street and slipped down the side road to the quay, then a van tried to get through the arch on uppergate street got stuck and was still there this morning, a couple of guys were trying to dig it out. Buses are only going between conwy and Llandudno. Got a call from Maes G in Bangor this morning and my mate is completely blocked in. The delivery guys said last night thta there was 15mile tail backs from Llanfair. Opened the club today, doubt it will be busy though.  :o

Looks like a substantial fire incident on Bryn Gynog Caravan/Chalet Park off Hendre Road at the moment - quite a number of blue flashing lights and considerable smoke coming from one caravan furthest away from Conwy on this site.

Fire Service seem to have it under control, there is a lot less smoke about. I suppose one of the main dangers would be gas cylinders which all these units have.

Not a very good Christmas in prospect for someone.

I saw a fire engine going down Mostyn Street in the direction of Conwy, It had it's siren and lights on and was by Trinity Square (M and S side) then a large wagon came out of the shops from Bog Island and blocked the Fire Engine's way!    :rage:
