The Reverend David Parry Vicar of Conwy has written to Conwy Town Council saying the chimes from St Mary's Church is disturbing his sleep.
In response the Town Council has sent out a questionnaire to 400 residents asking for their views about the clock chiming every 15 minutes from 12.15 to 6.15.
He said if he was in charge of the clock he would have it switched the chimes off overnight as they aren't necessary & cause a disturbance to his family as they live nearby.
However his views haven't gone down well with Conwy residents, out of 200 questionnaires already returned 95% are in favour of keeping the chimes.
A BBC news crew have been in Conwy Town this morning asking for comments.
Wonder if the Vicar will be off to pastures new soon or makes an investment in earplugs for his family  ;)

I do consider myself fairly easy going, however if my sleep is disturbed, I can become a bit of a Victor Meldrew, so I sympathise
and I do not think his request is unreasonable.

CCBC Cabinet members have agreed to put Conwy Civic Hall back on the open market with the focus on including residential or hotel development, but without the section of the Quay that was included in previous offers.  Cllr Louis Emery said the cost to keep the empty building secure would be significant, so it's important to find a new use for the building as soon as possible. The funds from the sale of the Civic Hall have been allocated to the new Cultural Centre which will open October 2019.

It’s a great building but needs a lot of money spending to remove the concrete box on the roof and reinstate something more sympathetic, let alone conversion costs to a hotel or restaurant. I’d quite like to see it kept in public use, to be honest.

CONWY castle and harbour will be under siege this weekend when a flotilla of mutineers, scoundrels and salty sea dogs sail into town.

Buccaneers of all shapes and sizes have been spied on the horizon and are expected to descend on the quay once again for a second swashbuckling raid as part of the Original Conwy Pirate Festival (OCPF) on Saturday, June 1 and Sunday 2.

In a first for the free event - which has been held since 2012 under the name 'Conwy Pirate Weekend' before being relocated to Rhos-on-Sea by organisers HTC events last year - the town will see an organised resistance from a militia of land lubbers, who will battle the pirates at Conwy Castle and on the harbour.  Full story from the Pioneer...https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/17670964.the-original-conwy-pirate-festival-returns-for-its-second-year/?ref=mr&lp=2

CONWY's Civic Hall is now officially back on the market with a guide price in excess of £500,000.   ref Pioneer

The building, situated on Castle Street, has been listed on Rightmove.
Conwy County Borough Council is the freeholder of the site.
The Pioneer reported in May that the Civic Hall Project Board had recommended that the property should be put back on the open market.
This was supported by Conwy’s Finance and Resources Scrutiny Committee and was met with approval by Conwy’s Cabinet members.

CCBC have announced that the new lease for the cafe at the new Culture Centre has been awarded to Deli Catering Ltd. One of the partners runs the Marmalade Cafe Rhos on Sea & if anyone has eaten there they will know what an excellent choice has been made, the second partner is Bethan Rogerson. Turn up for the book when CCBC does something right for once  ;D

Party At The Park North Wales changes venue to a nightclub 40 miles away - and people are fuming
Fans were expecting to watch Alexander O'Neal and Shola Ama perform at a massive outdoor event - which has now been moved to a smaller indoor venue.

A planned outdoor music event has been relocated to a nightclub 40 miles less than a month before the event is due to take place.
Ticket holders have been left fuming after finding out that the Su Casa "Party At The Park" at Y Morfa Stadium, Conwy , has now relocated to the smaller Tivoli Venue in Buckley with just three weeks notice.

Organisers Su Casa, who also operate under North Wales Events, were due to host a two day music festival at the football ground on July 26 and 27.

Angry festival goers have flooded the event's social media pages - many of whom have booked hotels and travel in the Conwy area specifically for the event .

CONWY’s annual River Festival brings two weekends of salty fun for sailors and landlubbers alike.

The festival offers an array of water-based activities plus shoreside entertainment for all the family.
The fun begins with the Quay Day and Conwy RNLI day and sail racing on Saturday July 20, with racing continuing on Sunday 21, and continuous the following weekend.

A variety of social events take place throughout the River Festival. The main events are the prize giving on each race day with the main prize giving on the second Sunday, as well as nautically themed events and entertainment on Quay Day,

The events include a fancy dress competition for the kids, a treasure hunt, clowns and rides, the great duck race and a variety of other attractions.

In addition, smaller social events take place at the race briefings and La La rally briefings.
Also this year there will be canoe races, rowing races and jetski rides in the harbour throughout the Quay Day afternoon.

The sail racing will be open to all classes and skill levels. The lightweight speedy racers, standard cruising yachts, heavy Morecambe Bay prawners, traditional gaff rigged yachts as well as a variety of day boats including the Conway One Designs will all be competing.

The day boats, including Conway One Designs will be on the river wowing the spectators on the quay on Saturday 20th and again on Sunday. In the afternoon they will be joined by the cruiser racers, prawners, gaff rigged yachts and powerboats for an extravagant parade of sail.

The famous La La rally for sailing yachts and power boats is a two day sail to Menai Bridge and back on Friday 26 and Saturday 27.There are tasks and activities which will test boat handling skills, to be completed en route with many prizes on offer.

The Conwy River Festival started in 1993 as a celebration of the relationship between the historic town of Conwy and its majestic river estuary.    ref Pioneer
