This will be 30th year the event has been organised by Conwy Beekeepers. It will be held on Friday September 13 between 9am and 4pm in Lancaster Square and the High Street which will be closed to traffic all day.

More than 20 honey plant, crafts and farmers market stalls have already booked for the event.

Peter McFadden of Conwy’s Beekeepers said: "This year's honey fair is a landmark for local beekeepers and it has become a national event. People come from far and wide to buy a year's supply of Welsh honey. Some buy a jar from every beekeeper. It's our favourite day of the year.”                       ref Pioneer

A CALL for volunteers to clean up Conwy Morfa beach has been made.                                         ref Pioneer

The Mayor of Conwy cllr Goronwy Edwards and the town council have organised a litter picking session on the beach on Saturday September 21 between 10am and 1pm.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Conwy Morfa beach car park near the caravan park.

Cllr Eva Roberts said: “As part of World Clean up day we felt it is important we do something which involves the community and engage groups and individuals."

“Cleaning the beach seemed an appropriate task to take on, particularly as the oceans have so much plastic floating in them and this with other material is being continually washed ashore.”

If you would like to come along email info@conwytowncouncil.gov.uk or turn up on the day to receive your safety equipment.

It's a great cause and it would be nice if all communities carried out something similar and it would certainly help to readdress the problems people are creating with their attitude to waste disposal

Are we going too far down the path of PC and  H & S  with the last comment "turn up on the day to receive your safety equipment"         What are they expecting to find other than litter.        Some time ago Fester did something similar on his own initiative and I bet he did the job just as well without all the modern day requirements

It may not be PC but could anyone on JSA be asked to swell the ranks of the volunteers?

Conwy Food Festival organisers say next month’s event could be the last because of funding problems.

The problem faced by the organisers is a reduction in public funding which makes the festival uneconomic.

This year’s event will be held between Friday October 25 and Sunday 27, and it promises a weekend of art, music and food on Conwy quayside. The festival is claimed to be one of the biggest in Wales and has been organised by a not for profit community organisation since 2004.

Jane Hughes, one of the festival organisers, said: “The point is we were having a lot of public funding, but that has decreased to a very small percentage of our costs, so the event needs to be self funding. “A lot of the events take place outside the ticketed area which is good for the town and creates an atmosphere in the town. So we need to get people to support the festival by buying wrist bands which give entry to all the events in the festival. Hopefully that would give income for us to continue to run the festival for years to come. In addition to that we are looking for more sponsors.”

A spokesperson for Conwy town council said: “The council has always been very supportive of the Conwy Food Festival and over the last 10 years it has given grants of more than £16,000. Jane Hughes must be congratulated for the way she has developed the festival, which is now recognised as a premier event in Wales and further afield. The council has been involved in the festival since the very beginning and a number of the town councillors were part of the original voluntary group.”      ref  Pioneer

CONWY Gwledd Feast, one of the biggest food festivals in Wales, promises a weekend of art, music and food on the town’s quayside

It will be held between Friday October 25 and Sunday 27. The feast has been organised by a not for profit community organisation, run by a dedicated team of local people, since 2004.

It will again feature the best produce from the area across a variety of stalls, real ales, craft displays, workshops, projections on the quayside.

The feast faces an uncertain future as a reduction in public funding makes it uneconomic. Jane Hughes who organisers the feast, said: “The future of the feast depends upon ticket sales, if they are good for this year’s festival we will keep going on, but if people don’t support it we wouldn’t be able to continue.”

Welsh is definitely the flavour of the weekend as the majority of the more than 150 artisan, street food stalls and producers will be coming from all over Wales.

But the festival isn’t just about food, other attractions include the Feast Quayside Bar which pops up to serve the best local brews, best quality wines and gin for the weekend. They will be complemented by displays and demonstrations of traditional building techniques, digital projections and a high-quality craft market, among'st many other things.

During the weekend the town is transformed, with venues dotted all over, Traditional crafts are a firm favourite at the Feast and the art of sheep shearing has always been a crowd puller. Children can be kept amused in the mini beasts marquee

Entry fees: for £28 (£25.20 on line) a family of two adults and three children can gain access everything in the core programme including the acoustic stage music marquee and the daytime music in the main stage music marquee. There is an option to buy music tickets for the music marquee.

I'm afraid not Ian.

The successful proposal for the site will have to go through a full planning application & listed building consent as it's grade 2. There are some Guidance notes on the CCBC website for prospective applicant & a submission checklist, but no mention of who they may be. The price is £500,000 for a 999 years lease & the closing date for the applicants 30/9/2019.
Quite a lot of this sort of thing comes under Exempt Items & are discussed at the end of Cabinet Meetings & the public are asked to leave the chamber & the webcast is switched off.

I'm putting this here as it's relevant to Conwy - the full musical could run for years :-)

PLANS have been unveiled for a £25 million development of “smart” homes in Glan Conwy.

The development will create about 500 jobs during construction.

Housebuilders Calon Homes submitted a planning application to Conwy County Borough Council to build 111 houses on the 13-acre Maes-y-Felin site.
The company has pledged to ensure 95 per cent of the people employed on the development of two, three and four-bedroom family homes will be from the county of Conwy and, wherever possible, to buy materials from local suppliers.
