I was wondering what materials went into it's manufacture. The same as the Victorian era?
Yes, the grant specifies that original materials must be used.

Aha,  $thanx$

The old Threshers Off Licence at the top of Penrhyn Road has had a new Victorian style shopfront and glass/iron canopy installed, using grant funding. A big improvement!

I guess all it needs now is a new tenant.

Once the High Tide had receded, Prom Day turned into a big success:

Went past this today and it looked like a glorified car boot sale

There has been a couple of car crashes on King's Drive today. The first I saw was just before 4.00pm when a car came up the one way system in King's Road and hit a car coming down the hill.
Both cars were in a bit of a mess but hopefully no one was seriously injured by the accident.
Later on just before 6.00pm a red car turned over on the bad bend near the top of King's Drive and there was a fire engine and Police car at the scene.  Traffic coming down the hill and also going up it had to stop and do 3 point turns and go back the way that they had come. The road is now open and wasn't closed for long.
It's a wonder that there haven't been more crashes in the past the way that people drive and cut the corner by the Church as they come into Lansdowne  Road.      :o

That corner by the Church is certainly very dangerous.

There are no dangerous corners - just dangerous drivers!

The old Dandos shop (opposite Woolworths) has finally been sold, I hope the new owners remove the awful shutters on the ground floor and renovate the building.

Seeing this photo takes me back to an incedent probably not far off 70 years ago. At that time my family lived in Rhos, this shop was a newsagents and, I have no idea why, we had weekly/monthly periodicals ordered there. So one day I was given the task to ride there and pick them up. A nervous easily embarrased youngster. I go to the counter and say "Can I have The Lady, The Gardener and The Scout" and the women behind the counter fell about laughing. I had no idea why. It was only many, many years after that Lady Chatterleys Lover hit the shelves and I suppose it was something to do with that.

I noticed this sign whilst I was walking up in the Conservation Area in the upper part of Colwyn Bay. Many of the old Victorian houses seem to have been bought up by Developers who pull them down and build far larger blocks of flats in the large grounds. Makes me wonder what the point of a Conservation Area is really?

I know my response has b****r all to do with Colwyn Bay,  but I agree Dave.  What is the point of Conservation Areas?

Take another look at Topolinos Pizza Monstrosity in Upper Mostyn Street.   :weeping: :weeping:
