Yes it's the same barge as in my photo.    There is a smaller vessel near it now but I can't make the second one out as it is so far away.
The barge seems to have moved its position a bit but it's still in the same area.
The perils of the sea,  what a tragedy and so near the coast too

THE newly elected Mayor of Bay of Colwyn has said she hopes to help the town "pull together" amid disagreement over town centre proposals.

Merrill Jones, who served as Deputy Mayor for two years, said she has enjoyed being "out and about" to meet people in Colwyn Bay and surrounding communities after being sworn into her new role.

"I am very happy and proud to have been elected as the Mayor of Colwyn Bay, after having served for two years as Deputy Mayor," said Mrs Jones. "I’m also very grateful that the lockdown restrictions are starting to be lifted now, to enable me to get out and about and start meeting people again.

Urgent warning to all dog owners after Cocker Spaniel died following a visit to North Wales beaches
The pup died within days of showing symptoms of the deadly disease

I read this distressing story yesterday not long after I had taken my dog for a walk on the beach at Colwyn Bay.   It must have been awful for the dog and the owner and it didn't have a nice ending with the dog having to be put down
It's a very rare virus but the dog could easily have contacted it at Delemere Forest rather than on the beach which after all is cleaned twice a day with the tides and also the salty water may have some protection too.
I walked my dog on the beach again today as did many other dog owners but at least the article made me aware of this condition which I had never heard of before
I do sympathise with the dog owner for their sad loss

PROPOSALS have been put forward for a supported living affordable housing development in Colwyn Bay.

Wales and West Housing Association have lodged proposals with Conwy County Borough Council for land at 3-8 Bay View Road Colwyn Bay [the location is described as between the high street and shopping centre]. Plans include the demolition of existing buildings - there is currently a "small row" of three-four storey terrace housing.

It is hoped three accessible one bedroom two person apartments can be created as well as 43 one bedroom two person apartments and eight two bedroom three three person apartments.

Shared communal facilities will be built including seating areas and an external courtyard garden and electric scooter store to encourage independence and greater mobility.

A £3m fund piloted by the Welsh Government in four North Wales town centres to encourage entrepreneurs to set up there is now open for expressions of interest and will open for applications next week

The fund will assist entrepreneurs to set up businesses in Bangor, Colwyn Bay, Rhyl and Wrexham.  The funding will be a combination of grant funding and loans to help entrepreneurs who are starting out.

The pilot aims to encourage entrepreneurs while also helping revitalise town centres which have been hit hard during the pandemic.  The scheme will run for a year initially

The loan element has been developed with and will be operated by the Development Bank of Wales offering loans from £1,000 through to a maximum of £50,000.

The fund will open for applications from 21 June.

Economy Minister Vaughan Gething said: “Our town centres have been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and this pilot project aims to encourage and support new businesses in four of North Wales’ town centres.  The fund will give entrepreneurs the incentive and a helping hand to set up business there.

“The aim is to not only increase businesses in those town centres but also to support new business.”

Minister for North Wales Lesley Griffiths said: “The past year and a half has been an exceptionally challenging time for businesses and our town centres.  There is great potential in our town centres, and we want to see that realised.  The aim of this pilot project is to help encourage new businesses to use space in four town centres across North Wales.

“Pilot projects like this will assist our town centres and communities to deal with the impact of the pandemic.”

Scarecrows of Jeremy Clarkson in his new farming TV show have sent social media into a frenzy.

The former Top Gear presenter and trusty sidekick Kaleb Cooper, seemingly at their Diddly Squat Farm Shop, are among celebs represented by the fun figures in Llysfaen Scarecrow Festival near Colwyn Bay.

A council has held a “special” behind-closed-doors meeting after plans to build a flagship children’s assessment centre were left in chaos when the builder went bust.

Conwy county council held the cabinet meeting to try and thrash out what happens now with Bwthyn y Ddôl, next to Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay.
The facility was supposed to stop vulnerable children being sent hundreds of miles away to specialist private providers.

WHSMITH in Colwyn Bay has finally closed to customers for good. ref Pioneer
The store shut on Tuesday, July 17

"As one of the largest supporters of the UK high street, we are disappointed to be losing our presence in Colwyn Bay and we would like to thank all our customers for their support and for shopping with us.

They added this week: "We have no current plans to close our Llandudno store."

Colwyn Bay Heritage Group posted on Facebook: "W.H.Smith said goodbye to Colwyn Bay in July, having been open in the town for a century. First opening on Penrhyn Road, the store soon moved to the then newly built Station Road shop.
