The Rhos Pirate Weekend seemed a bit of a flop really. Very little in the way of atmosphere, very few people dressed up as pirates. Rhos just doesn't suit itself to that to a pirate themed event, sadly.

Given the average age of residents in Rhos, a lot of them probably remember Blackbeard from the first time he was around and have bad memories of it all.  :-X

The winds are very strong at the moment and will increase to over 40 mph in the early hours and it's bin day tomorrow!

I was driving from Colwyn Bay about 2.00 pm today and when I came to the large roundabout in Brompton Avenue there were barriers across the road and a Policewoman was diverting traffic towards the promenade
I could see Police cars and an ambulance further up Brompton Avenue so there must have been some incident going on there.  Anyone know what it was all about?

It was still light with a very pink sky when we took the dog out at 10.15pm.

There have been some lovely sunsets this week Bri but last night was  a bit different.   The colours seem to fade quickly but last night when I looked the colours seemed to be getting more vibrant.

Yesterday sometime there were a number of Police cars in Kings Drive stopping cars going up the hill and redirecting them on to the Old Highway.
Anyone know what was going on/

Just waiting on recovery in #Colwyn Bay. Vehicle uninsured since May. Driver disclaimed ownership and reported.    They could have a busy time in the area  if they want to catch all the road tax cheats

Conwy Council has received a planning application by the Pennaf Housing Group for 31 apartments at the site of the former Edelweiss Hotel on Lawson Road, Colwyn Bay.
The hotel  dates back to the 1850s and was once known as one of the jewels in Colwyn Bay’s crown.

But in 2007, permission was given by Conwy County Council for the building to be knocked down, with previous plans having been in place to transform it into accommodation for pensioners.
The new proposals, however, include 17 one bedroom and 14 two bedroom apartments, covering a 0.5 hectare site. ref Pioneer

Comment..........
"Funny these flats were going to be OAP flats, this is why they stated that they could not convert the hotel. Now it's social housing flats so they could have converted after all! Do we need any more social housing flats in the area? Penarth have just slapped up another huge block of flats just around the corner. Great way to regenerate Colwyn Bay, knock down hotels that we need for tourism and slap up flats!"
